In an informal visit, Silchar’s MP Dr Rajdeep Roy on Saturday evening (12/09/2020) went on to meet and greet the most loved and appreciated COVID warriors of Silchar, the volunteers of Rising Youth Society in Silchar crematorium at Sashan ghat Kalibari.
Accompanied by his friends and close associates Dr Roy went to the Sashan ghat to know the well being of Rising Youth Society’s president Mr Pinak Roy and its volunteers who are devoting their day and night to cremate the dead bodies of COVID 19 patients.
He learnt their grievance and assured that all the necessary steps would be taken to lessen their burdens and would be provided with steps to facilitate their stay and the pious work that they have been doing for many months.
He assured that he (MP Dr Rajdeep Roy) will talk to the district administration and will try his best to facilitate the volunteers with everything he can so that they can perform their task without any external stress or anxiety.
It is to be noted that since July 16 this Silchar based NGO ‘Rising Youth Society’ under the leadership of their president Mr Pinak Roy have been voluntarily cremating COVID dead bodies at Sashan ghat. They have been staying at the government provided hotel since then and haven’t visited their families since then.
Much discrimination has been perpetrated against them and their family members by the local masses since the day they started their social work. Hence, Dr Rajdeep Roy urged the people of the city not to discriminate them or their family members as whatever they are doing they are doing it for the society so that we can stay safe in such a grave situation. He assured that these social workers are maintaining all the protocols that one need to follow to perform the rituals of cremating a dead body affected by COVID 19.
