The Office of the District Health Society, NHM, Cachar has issued an order on Saturday (18th July, 2020), detailing the new guidelines on COVID-19 testing in Cachar. Following are the set of guidelines that must be followed.

The patients, who claim that they have come in contact of a COVID-19 positive patient, are required to contact on 9707107616 via a phone call or a whatsapp message and they need to share the details to an operator. Appoinment will be fixed and the details about the date and venue of testing will be shared with the patient shortly after that.
  2. Every person, who is suspected to have come in contact of a COVID-19 positive patient, must immediately isolate himself/herself via home quarantine, following all protocols, and provide swab samples to the concerned medical team, with least exposure to others. The individual must stay in quarantine until the test results come. Failing to abide by this order will attract requisite penal provision. In case an individual develops any symptom, he/she must immediately contact the District Epidemiologist on 7086109448.
  3. All the clinically referred cases must get themselves tested in the COVID Screening center, located in medicine emergency building of SMCH, during the time period between 11 AM to 1 PM. The individual should carry proper referral form from the Medical Practitioners & registered doctors, he/she has consulted.

The order has explained that the guidelines have been issued, keeping in mind, the voluntary approach of people for COVID-19 testing, who either claim that they have come in contact of a COVID-19 positive patient or have developed symptoms. It has added that many doctors, medical practitioners and hospitals, require patients to get tested for COVID-19, prior to treatment. Moreover, the guidelines have also been issued to avoid people creating congestion in various health centers with the intention to get themselves tested, which may in turn, increase the chances of contamination.

The order says, “Anybody found violating the guidelines will be liable for prosecution under relevant act.”
