The Government of Assam is going to observe the two-year long commemoration of the 150th Birth Anniversary of the “Father of The Nation”, Mahatma Gandhi. The event will end on Gandhi Jayanti (2nd October, 2020) with a week long programme.
The District Administration of Cachar, in unison with the Nation, is going to celebrate the occasion as well, by organising several events. Virtual lectures, webinars, seminars, conferences, debates, quizzes, exhibitions, in addition to many other programmes, which shall specially be centred around Mahatna Gandhi and his life, will be organized by the District Administration during the week long celebration.
It has also been informed that all the COVID-19 protocols will be strictly practiced. Practicing social distancing, wearing face masks, using hand sanitizers and hand wash, proper thermal screening, avoiding large congreations are the steps, that should be mandatorily followed during the event.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Cachar, Rajib Roy, in an official letter on Friday (25th September, 2020), has appealed to the heads of various offices, to frame suitable programmes in the respective offices during the week long event, according to the Government instructions. The administration has further suggested that the programmes should revolve around Gandhiji.
