Cachar DC reviews progress of schemes in a two-day DDC Meeting

The District Administration of Cachar held a two-day meeting with the District Development Committee (DDC), at the official conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner of Cachar, on Thursday and Friday. All COVID-19 protocols were strictly followed.

The meeting was chaired by the Deputy Commissioner of Cachar, Keerthi Jalli, IAS. The Deputy Commissioner conducted a review of schemes of all the major departments with the ending of monsoon season, and prepared a road map for the active execution of works in the dry season. She reviewed PWD Roads, National Highways, Buildings, PHED, Water Resources, Soil Conservation and Town & Country planning Departments on Thursday.

Discussions on Village Development Plan (VDP), under Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram Yojana (PMAGY), was held on Friday. During the meeting, it was informed that PMAGY villages have already been identified by the Government of India. A sum of Rs. 20 lakhs has been allotted for each village.

Further, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed the progress of schemes under various departments. She suggested that the Social Welfare Department should observe the Poshan Program in the current month and ensure that citizens get the benefits.

The Deputy Commissioner then directed the Handloom and Textile Department to initiate important steps in order to set up a mini-industry in Cachar. Moreover, she directed the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department to initiate vaccination drives in order to control swine fever.

In addition to that, the Deputy Commissioner is satisfied with the production of fishes in Cachar District. Besides, she expressed happiness over the performance of the Agriculture Department in the District.

The Deputy Commissioner announced that no discrepancies and irregularities will be treated with ignorance in the minority scholarship, while reviewing the Education Department. Moreover, she directed the Labour Department to take necessary actions in order to ensure that the tea garden labourers get their Puja Bonus without any delay.

Later, discussions were held on revenue collection in the last six months. The Deputy Commissioner highlighted the need for taking up more convergence schemes.
