A conference pertaining to the improvement of Silchar-Hailakandi road and matters on it’s cleanliness and hygiene was ordered and arranged by the Deputy Commissioner of Cachar, Keerthi Jalli, IAS on 25th September, 2020 in the afternoon. The meeting took place at the conference hall of the Deputy Comissioner and was attended by officials and representatives including Sumit Sattawan, IAS, ADC, Cachar; Navnita Hazarika, ACS, BDO Silchar; Anjana Paul, BDO Borjalenga; Rasaraj Das, SEO, DRDA, Cachar and G.P. Presidents/Secretaries of the concerned G.Ps, among others.
The DC observed that the citizens were experiencing difficulties and challenges, while using the road due to the irregular parking and long unclean areas of the road. She stressed upon the necessity of introducing and implementing the concept of source segregated waste at doorstep, to avoid piling up of garbage on banks of road in the said areas as well as elimination of practice of unplanned and order less parking of vehicles and removal of all obstacles in the path of travelers, including, but not limited to dumped construction material and heaps of garbage for smooth vehicular movement of private vehicles, public transport vehicles, ambulances on the silchar-hailakandi road, which takes people to multiple important locations like SMCH; various private hospitals; educational institutions like Assam University, NIT Silchar etc.
The IAS officer instructed the concerned BDOs of Silchar and Borjalenga as well as Panchayati Raj officials and representatives of the concerned G.Ps to identify and allocate Parking Slots, Vending Zones and also carry out awareness campaigns amongst the residents, regarding importance and implementation of door to door collection and proper disposal of segregated waste materials or garbage in their respective areas, which would enable them to lead a systematic and ecological life, that is highly important at the times of the Coronavirus Pandemic and also asked for their contribution in keeping the area filth less and organized.
