The Deputy Commissioner of Cachar, Keerthi Jalli, IAS conducted joint site inspection on Friday (11th September, 2020), to resolve the issues of demarcation of land for the work of improvement of the road from Silchar town to Assam University upto Irongmara Bazar of Silchar-Hailakandi road stretching around 18.5 km.
The officials, who accompanied Jalli during the joint site inspection, were Circle Officer, Sadar Revenue Circle, Silchar, Nabaneeta Hazarika; Superintending Engineer, PWRD, Cachar Roads Circle cum I/C Executive Engineer, PWRD, Silchar and Udharbond Territorial Road Division, Silchar, Nameswar Pegu; Assistant Executive Engineer, PWRD, Silchar Territorial Road Division, Abdun Noor; and Contractor, Binod Singhi of Gautam Construction.
According to the contractor, the progress of the work slowed down in need of demarcation of land for the construction of side drains. Deputy Commissioner, Jalli instructed the Circle Officer of Silchar to immediately complete the demarcation work, via consultations with PWD staff.
The Circle Officer, Silchar Sadar Revenue, Nabaneeta Hazarika informed that the demarcation of land from Kathal Point towards Rangirkhari Point, will be completed within a period of two days. Further, the contractor agreed to complete the drainage work within a period of one month, post the completion of land demarcation.
In addition to that, the problem of encroachment near Bharakhai High School was taken into consideration, followed by a discussion. The Deputy Commissioner then visited the site and instructed immediate legal recourse in this regard, in order to ensure that the road construction can be initiated as soon as possible.
