Health & Family Welfare Department of Government of Assam has issued guidelines for people, travelling outside of Assam, after the Ministry of Home Affairs issued guidelines for faced re-opening (Unlock 4.0).
The secretariat has decided that a person travelling outside of Assam, and returning back to the state within 96 hours of departure, will not be required to undergo a quarantine of 10 days. The administration has also published a set of conditions which are to be fulfilled by the traveller, in order to escape the 10 day rigorous quarantine.
A person returning from a journey of not more than 96 hours, outside of Assam, will not be forced into quarantine on his/her arrival after fulfilling the conditions given below :
- The person will have to undergo Rapid Antigen Test on return.
- If the Rapid Antigen test is positive, he/she shall undergo home isolation/treatment in COVID Care Center or hospitals as per the protocols.
- If the Rapid Antigen Test is negative, he/she will have to appear for the RT-PCR testing and will have to stay under home isolation until the result. Once the result is declared, the person will have to undergo isolation/treatment in COVID Care Center or hospital as per the protocol, if tested positive, and can escape quarantine if found negative.
- The person will have to strictly maintain hygiene and physical distancing during the stay outside Assam.
Samir K. Sinha, Principal Secretary to the Government of Assam for Health and Family Welfare Department, issued this order in the supersession of earlier orders on quarantine of persons arriving in Assam, and came into force from the day of the issue, i.e. September 10th, 2020. The notice also stated that the order NO. HLB 111/2020/340 regarding travel of Ministers/Officials of the Government of Assam will continue to remain in force.
These steps were taken in the view of Unlock 4.0 after Ministry of Home Affairs issued guidelines for the phased re-opening.
