The COVID positive case in Cachar is increasing by leaps and bounds every day. Till now there are around 980 COVID cases in the district. In view of such horrendous growth of the disease Deputy Commissioner Keerthi Jalli had summoned a meeting with leading citizens, MPs, MLAs and other senior dignitaries at her office today (23/07/2020). Silchar MP Rajdeep Roy also attended the meeting.
After much discussion and deliberation, all the senior members and public representatives came to the unanimous conclusion of postponing the COVID lockdown in the district for this week until further orders.
When asked about the derailing of lockdown in spite of the rapid increase of COVID +ve cases DC Keerthi Jalli replied that “the unemployed, daily wagers, businesses who were deeply affected by the lockdown are still not able to recover completely. Considering them and their plight and depending on the preparation of the District administration it has been recommended by the house to not to go with a lockdown at least for this week. Whether we should go for a lockdown again will depend on the situation if it gets worse in the future then a mutual decision will be taken on the same.”
The other dignitaries present at the meeting were Cachar SP Bhanwar Lal Meena, ADC Rajib Roy and DDC Jessica Lalsim.
