Assam Fisheries, Excise, Forest and Environment Minister Parimal Suklabaidya on Wednesday reached Guwahati Sankardeva Kalakshetra to pay his last respects to the veteran Congress leader & former Chief Minister of Assam Tarun Gogoi, who breathed his last on Monday November 23, following post-COVID-19 related complications.
Minister Suklabaidya wrote in his Twitter account,“Paid the last tributes to the mortal remains of former CM Shri Tarun Gogoi. His unparalleled & immense contributions & his visionary & firm ideologies will be remembered by the entire nation. Interacted with @GauravGogoiAsm& expressed my sincere condolences to them.”
Gogoi, a three-time Chief Minister, breathed his last at the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital at 5.34 pm. He was first admitted to the hospital on August 26 after testing positive for COVID-19 and was released for a brief period before being admitted again on November 2.
Gogoi was the MLA from the Titabor Assembly Constituency since 2001. He was also a six-time parliamentarian and a Union minister twice.
Meanwhile, former Chief Minister of Assam Tarun Gogoi will be cremated in Guwahati on Thursday.
