Members of the Assam University Students’ Union (AUSU) submitted a memorandum to the Vice Chancellor of Assam University, Silchar regarding allegations of corruption in University admissions.
Recently, an applicant into the Department of Law of Assam University, Silchar, recieved a call from a person claiming to be working in the administrative block of the University. The said person was caught saying that since the applicant had a relatively low percentage, he would have to pay a sum amounting to about ₹ 30 thousand for a guaranteed seat in the department.
With regards to this, the AUSU has asked the Vice Chancellor to form a committee and undertake proper investigation against the person who had asked for the bribe. The AUSU also demanded for fresh admissions into the Department of Law so as to maintain the transparency of the admission process.
