The pious volunteers of Team Namaste once again stepped out from the comfort of their lives to help hundreds of poor and stranded people of the Silchar town. Since the beginning of the lockdown, the social service volunteering organization that was founded in 2019 helped many poor and needy people of the town by distributing foods, sanitation items, and educating ignorant people of the COVID 19.
On 19th October the team volunteered to distribute around 2,000 clothes, footwear, and other necessary items to hundreds of needy people located in and around the Silchar town. The team led by their young founder Bikash Das was able to distribute almost 1,000 clothes and footwear and other commodities to vulnerable and poor people at Silchar Railway Station, Malineebeel, and few other locations in the town. The team also distributed the remaining clothes to Ram Krishna Mission.
Talking to Cachar Chronicles, Founder and President of Namaste Mr Bikash Das said that their main motive was to bring a little smile to the needy, to people who aren’t capable of buying clothes during the auspicious Durga Puja. He also added that due to covid 19 lockdown many people went jobless and weren’t able to even buy clothes for their children. So, they tried a small attempt to help these people out without whatever resources they had.
Bikash Das thanked the people of the town who generously volunteered the organization by providing thousands of clothes and other important items in such a hard time.
The other members who were volunteered for the event were
Poulomita Nath, Anusuwa Paul, Rajkishor Dutta, Payal Das, Shivam Paul, Siddhant Paul, Debajit Paul, Bishan Acharjee, Nilanjana Bhattacharjee and Rahul Das.
