A 26-year-old resident of Borkhola has been arrested for allegedly abducting and raping a 12-year-old girl. Police said that the accused was arrested on Thursday night after girl's family member lodged an FIR against him.
As per complaint, wrote that the accused, abducted the girl when she was returning home after finishing bath from a pond. He forcibly took her to his home and raped her, said Manmohan Raut, the officer incharge of Borkhola police station.
Raut said that based on the FIR, a case has been registered under section 186, 342 and 376 of Indian Penal Code and Protection of Children Against Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) against the accused.
"We have recovered relevant substances which will help us in further investigation. The victim went through necessary medical checkups and we'll file the chargesheet after completing initial investigation," Rout said.
In a similar case, a Cachar district resident was arrested on October 4 for allegedly abducting, raping and cutting throat of 16-year-old girl before putting her in a packet and throwing her in a jungle.
