The Chennai Super Kings franchisee has gone through several unfavourable circumstances ahead of IPL 2020. Various members of the franchisee, including two players, have tested positive for COVID-19. In addition to that, Suresh Raina has retired from IPL 2020 citing “personal reasons”. However, it was later officially announced that Raina’s uncle had been killed in Pathankot and the family members of Raina’s uncle had suffered injuries and are going through medical treatment.
Suresh Raina, on Tuesday (1st September, 2020), tweeted on his twitter handle stating, “What happened to my family in Punjab was beyond horrible. My uncle was slaughtered to death, my bua and both my cousins had severe injuries. Unfortunately, my cousin also passed away last night after battling for life for days. My bua is still very very critical and is on life support.”
Suresh Raina further added, “Till date, we don’t know what exactly had happened that night and who did that. I request Punjab Police to look into this matter. We atleast deserve to know who did this heinous act to them. Those criminals should not be spared to commit more crimes.”
Earlier on Saturday, the police informed that the incident took place at Thariya village in Punjab’s Pathankot. Moreover, the police further informed that the attack was launched by three to four members of the notorious “Kale Kacchewala” Gang”, with the main objective of looting the household. According to the police, it was in the process of looting, that they attacked Ashok Kumar and his family at their house. It was reported that Ashok Kumar suffered head injuries and died on the night of the attack.
