The Dept of Performing Arts, Assam University, Silchar, is organising a two-days National Webinar on “Understanding the tools and techniques of Vectorworks for a scenic designer” on 17th & 18th of August, 2020. The webinar aims to provide an outline of the software, to be used in sets and lights design exclusively. The participants may get hands on experience through the software and may design, create and execute the creative plans.
This workshop benefits in exploring ideas and creating a working model of stage design. The “Vectorworks” is a professional software, which allows many other design softwares as well. The webinar, which is being held by the Department of Performing Arts, Assam University, Silchar, is concentrating on spotlight. Spotlight is a feature which can be used for Theatre and TV design.
“As a part of the theatre course, Bachelor of Performing Arts, I thought of conducting classes exclusively for the drama students at the Department, but later on, when I discussed with the expert from Vectorworks, Vishakamurty from Chennai, we thought of extending the design features to all other artists, architects and scenic designers. This webinar is providing an outline of how it can be used in the field of designing. I hope students of Assam University, as well as other participants will definitely use the software and work creatively in the field of theatre. The Department, from its inception, worked on different activities for the community development of active skilled artists, performers and experts from the field of performing arts. The department, through its activities, workshops, seminars and programmes, benefited many people of Barak valley and other regions of India. I hope this webinar will also provide such avenues to the stakeholders of Assam University and other participants as well. Faculties in the department, Head, Dean and Honourable Vice Chancellor have always supported and encouraged the programmes, organised at the department”. Professor of Theatre in Department of Performing Arts, Assam University and the Convenor of the webinar, Murali Basa said.
The webinar is open for all who are in the field of performing arts and designs with no age bar. The Dept is also coming with a series of such activities where the people, all over the world, may participate for sharing knowledge and building relationships in the academic and practice field. The online interaction by Ryan Kirk on Theatre Management is one such example.
